Arunachal: 2 killed, 3 injured after girls hostel collapses in Lungla

Two girl students killed, three were injured when the hostel wall collapsed on the sleeping children at Lungla in Tawang district of  Arunachal Pradesh.

Two girl students lost their life while two were seriously injured and one suffered minor injury when the hostel wall collapsed on the sleeping children early this morning around 3.15 to 3.20  am at Govt  residential upper primary school, Namtsering village under Dudungkhar circle of Lungla Sub division.

The wall of the hostel building couldn’t resist the landslide that occurred due to incessant rain for last many days.

There were total 19 girl students sleeping in the hostel, immediate rescue by the warden and other teaching staff along with villagers nearby helped other students to be rescued unhurt. The unfortunate students who lost their life were

Those Seriously are

Ms.Sangey Pema ,  Class VII,  D/o Shri Tsering Namgey Village Tsangkhar

Ms.Lhakpa Eton,  Class VI, D/o Shri Leki Khandu, Village Chellengdung

And the one who suffered minor injury is Ms.Ngob Sangmo, D/o Shri Gyirpo Kharteng village.

SP Tawang, ADC Lungla alongwith SDMO immediately rushed to the spot, while the officials from Education deptt and district Administration Tawang also visited and meet the family members of children and teachers of Govt. Residential school Namtsering.

The mortal remains of the two children were sent to Khandro drowa Tsangmo district hospital Tawang for post mortem, while the injured after first aid at CHC Dudungkhar were referred for further treatment at district hospital Tawang.

  1. A mournful incident which has claimed life’s
    of two school children and held several others injured . This sporadic monsoon has created havoc in several parts of UP,Bihar,Assam and most of the NE states.
    As per skymet (private weather forecaster) report , there will be heavy downpour until July 15 in Ganga and Brahmaputra belt and it’s neighbouring regions.
    NDMA and SDMA ,ought to be act in holistic manner with spreading awareness and alerting people about landsline prone zone.
    Since monsoon is a natural phenomenon ,the intensity may differ periodically at different places, hence ,it is governments legal obligation to provide preventive measures for such disasters.
    The government authorities must learn lessons from such pitiful incidences and act practically to prevent such consequences.
    With the people’s awareness and their participation will provide an optimistic outcome in controlling such incidents.
