APEDA organised Training on Off-Grid Solar Technologies

Three days “Off-Grid Solar Technologies” training program organized by the APEDA, Pasighat concluded on Sunday. Gracing the occasion EE(Elect) Er. Taduram Darang said in pursuit of providing excellent training and consultancy services to solar energy power sector.

 “Access to affordable, reliable energy is key to economic development, as there is a direct link between having electricity and the quality of a person’s living standards. Unfortunately, most of our rural populations still have no access to solar energy. This keeps them in remote parts of the developing world from being able to work their way out of poverty”, opined Er. Darang adding that such workshop would help the participating PRI members, councillors and officers to update their knowledge and gain practical know-how in the field.

Consultant NE Region Sewali Borthakur lauded efforts of Er. Kape Badak, Project Officer (APEDA) for providing of required assistance and successful conduct of the training. Borthakur told the trainees that renewable energy technology was a way to provide electricity to the people through solar panels, wind turbines, small-scale hydroelectric projects and other forms of self-sufficient energy to meet the need of power in rural communities.

Resource persons from National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), Delhi briefed and guided the participants on design, installation of rooftop solar PV systems and at the end of the session, participants would be able to install a complete solar power plant, identify the operation and maintenance issues through faultfinding analysis and troubleshoot process. The ideas and experiences gathered in the training would help the participants to plan and improvise their collective works in the days to come, she hoped.

Resource persons Prakash Jha, Sweta Soam and Pragati Rajput imparted the training through lecture, power-point presentation, sharing of case examples and design exercises etc. All together seventy persons were trained.
