Anshu Jamsenpa felicitated- Mountain peak proposed to be named after Anshu

Arunachal Pradesh  mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa was felicitated in a public function organized by Adhunik India Foundation on 13 Nov in New Delhi. Chief guest Jual Oram Union Minister for Tribal Affairs while showering appreciation for her mountaineering achievement stated that she is a big inspiration and a symbol of women empowerment. Uday Singh Mina, Director, Indian Railways Govt of India also congratulated 3 time Everester Anshu for her recent double summit of Mt Gorichen East and an unnamed virgin peak in Arunachal Himalayas.

Anshu Jamsenpa felicitated- Mountain peak proposed to be named after AnshuWhile thanking the organizers of the function, Anshu stated that today mountaineering is no longer climbing mountains only. It is about exploration and opening of new vistas for generations to follow.

Chairman of Adhunik India Foundation D K Chauhan advocated and opined that the newly summitted peak 6493 mtr should be named ‘Anshu’ peak as she is the first mountaineer to who took up the challenge to explore and chart the treacherous blue ice route to the top. He further stated that Anshu with a fellow mountaineer Shanti Rai from Sikkim had unfurled the national flag on this peak on 21st Oct which not many people knew until TOI featured it on 7th Nov edition.

Indian Mountaineering Foundation, the apex national body for mountaineering expeditions in India also appreciated Anshu’s power point presentation on All Women Expedition to Gorichen range. IMF President Col H S Chauhan, Chairman of the Expedition Committee Prem Singh DIG ITBP, Governing Council member Col Ajit Dutt, Brig K Kumar and several others congratulated Anshu for the double summit in one expedition.
